How it's Done
Most commissioned portraits or pet portraits are done with the photos of your loved ones.
I use some photos as is or combine two or more photos.
I often create new background or crop the photos for the better results. I always stay mindful about likeness of the subjects along with color balance and value.
Dr. Sunshine commissioned me this painting for his girl friend. This is to commemorate her two sons passing. It was a surprise present.

I had to gather all the photos from her Facebook secretly and decided to include their childhood memories in black and white.
In two occasions, I painted this large watercolor for both 50th Wedding Annivesary for the Peltzman and the Jenkins.
